Bernadette came late in life to fashion and beauty - quite literally some would say! - via a career in journalism that started with a degree in English. Said degree having ruled out the possibility of ever getting what her parents saw as a worthwhile job in accountancy, journalism was one of the few options open to her (luckily the only one she wanted).

Starting off as a freelancer on a local newspaper in the west of Ireland, where fashion despatches ran as far as commenting on what the local city councillors were wearing in their weekly Monday meetings (believe us, it was never anything featured in Vogue), she then moved into radio journalism. After launching a travel and lifestyle magazine in Ireland and turning 30, she decided it was time to give it all up and lie on a beach in Thailand for a few months.  Returning with a large credit card bill, the strength of sterling against the euro provided the pull she needed to come to London. (Just for six months, to pay off the bill). Eight years later she has just seen All About You through a massive relaunch as the website for Good Housekeeping, Country Living, SHE, House Beautiful, Prima and Coast - and indulges her passion for gorgeous beauty products and fashion finds in the website's hair & beauty pages, as well as her ‘Twinset & pearls' blog.
